Sigma 1`s(AKA Detail dave`s)antenna checklist

Post  Sigma 1 on Fri May 21, 2010 4:22 am

Antenna-Got
T/K brackets-on their way
coax/got
pole-Got and cut down, aerial wont be high bout 8 or 9ft to base of antenna had one that high yrs ago and worked reasonably well so it`l do.

Gotta just get a mate to drop some more weld on the T/k brackets(if theyre like the brackets of old both sides you`d expect to be welded on the angle an they aint)

Paint brackets/pole then persuade me dad its not that high an im laughing.

Mark a quick question silver rods ive had in the past have had a drain hole round the bk of the tube nr the lower part of mounting bracket maybe a inch above bottom rubber insulator-this hasnt-would ya drill it or not??-dont want the bottom section to be full of water affraid

yup, drill it, or drill two smaller holes, in case one gets blocked Smile

make sure all joints are taped up well to stop any water in the first place, but unless you seal them with silicon or self amalgamating tape or even grease the water will find it's way in..

also grease the clips and bots as when it comes to remove it there's nothing worse than fanny-ing about with the clips..

don't drill into the black plastic..!!

the newer ones don't have coils like they used to, they have a PCB with an etched coil on it, so not as good on power handling either, but look where the lowest section screws into the black plastic, and assume an inch above will be hollow..
